Look At My New Toy!
After riding my 1992 GL1500 GoldWing for 9 years, I finally broke
down and bought my very first brand new motorcycle. This is the
2006 GL1800 GoldWing. It has a lot more power than the older bike,
heated seats and heated hand grips. Most of the other features were
on my 1500 but they have all been updated. Things such as the
6 speaker stereo with speed controlled volume. In helmet stereo and
intercom. This stereo even has a hook up for an MP3 player so I don't
need a CD changer in my trunk. The trunk can be
opened with the key or with the remote control. There are a bunch of
other little things butthese are the key items.
It will be a few days before I am totally comfortable with this new
ride. I just picked it up today (1/9/2006) and it had 0.9 miles on
it from being pushed in and out of the show room each day. It had
no street miles on it. I was the first person to ever get it out on
the street! This bike has so much more power than my old bike so in
the rain, it will take a little getting use to. When I put it in the
garage for the night, I had 43.3 miles on it. I make a few trips
accross town and up and down the highway.
Here is a photo of Tammy on the bike and another of it sitting all
alone in front of our house. It sure is pretty when the clouds aren't
making everything look black.

I went back an forth for some time about this purchase. After adding
up the cost of maintenance and the decreasing value of my old bike
and mostly the fact that I drive every day, well Tammy and I decided
that it was time to replace the old bike.
Hey! Does your car or motorcycle know your name? This one does!
Is that a crazy feature or what? I love it!
I took the bike grocery shopping. I was really wondering how much
it could hold. I almost bought too much, but I managed to fit all
that you see below into the rear trunk and two side bags. It is
about the same amount as the older bike but packing is different
because of the change in the bucket shapes. Rather impressive for
a motorcycle isn't it?
