I have over the years created a bunch of poems, stories, and thoughts and placed them on paper. I didn't keep many, but now some are here on the web for you to see if you like.

How did I get into computers? And what is my background? Well, it all started back in 1982 when I was in high school in Portland Oregon. I got my very first look at computers. The old Commidore PET was what the school had. It was a really junky system by todays standards, but it was better than the TRS-80 systems. But not by much. I tried to get into a computer class but couldn't because they were new and being held for the seniors. I decided to use the computers on my own after school. I liked ripping apart BASIC programs to see what each line did. I found that a lot of programmers at the school were nothing more than hacks who couldn't write a readable program if their life depended on it. So out of the simple need to be able to understand, I started writing programs with one command per line, indenting when I could, and lots of comments. After a while I found that it came easy to me. And the structured approach to programming I had to use while learning served me well as I picked up other languages. I now know how to program in Assembler, ARexx, APL, BASIC, C, COBAL, DBase III, Fortran, Lotus Macro, Pascal and RPG. I have used a large selection of computers including TI-99/4A, IBM, MAC, Apple ][, Atari, RS-6000, Sun, and Amiga. The one problem I do run into from time to time is I will get going on something and use a command from the wrong language or think I am on the wrong computer. The problems are quickly fixed once I wake up.

My quest for logic and learning is probably one of the largest factors in my over all personality. Although you might not see it through my goof ball exterior. I like to have a lot of fun while running problems through my head. I goof off and joke around to break the tension that can build inside while trying to figure something out. Besides, who likes a total egg head anyway? I think the best day of work was near the end of 1993 when after about a week of pulling practical jokes on each other in QC, I was getting ready to go home. I ride a motorcycle year round so I was putting on my rain gear. One of the guys asked me to check something outside the door as he was sipping his cup of coffee. I took a quick look and then continued to get dressed. When I put my foot in my rubber boots, I found that the coffee was really a cup of water and it had been dumped into my boot while I was looking out the door. Man that was a good one!

Art is also one of my passions. I am not very good with paper and pen, or paints, or other physical media. I am getting fairly good at 3D raytrace images though. It is quite entertaining to start with an idea and cybersculpt the images and then set the lighting and textures. My personal preferances at this point if for dark images, as I love the way shadows play on the different objects. I have some samples online if you would like to take a look.
