Unique Visitors
Today is 11/21/2008. There have been 2,373,520 visitors to our site since 1/1/2000. Over the last 106 months this works out to an average of 22,392 each month, 5,126 each week or 731 each day.
The visitor count doesn't measure pages viewed like some sites. It only measures
unique visits. What this means is that when a person comes to our site they
are counted only once as long as they keep their session alive. If they leave
and come back after more than 30 minutes, they will be counted again. They
will also be counted again if they close their browser and then come back.
While on our site, each visitor can do any number of things and spend as much
time as he/she likes roaming around. As long as a new page is viewed once
every 30 minutes (or the refresh button is pressed in that time period) our
system will recognize that this is the same visit and will not add to the
counter.
Major Web Browsers
According to the visitors coming to our site, this is how the major web
browsers stack up. Clicking on the name or logo for each browser will
open a new window where you can get more information and even download
the browser.

Your Privacy Is Important
We DO NOT track individual users. What any one user does on our site
is of no consern to us. We feel that the general statistics of what pages
users are visiting and where they are coming from is good enough. We don't
make any connections in our database between our statistics and specific
users. This means that even though we count the pages you visit on our site,
we never know that it is you visiting them. We only count the number of
times each page is accessed not who accesses it. Some peopel feel that
being tracked would an invasion of privacy. We feel much the same.
We do need to know what areas of our site are getting used the most.
We feel this method is a good compromise.
Why do we keep count of our visitors? Simply to know how well we are doing
at providing intersting content and tools. If the number of visitors continues
to rise, we are doing well. If it starts to fall, then we know something needs to
be improved and we can start researching the problem. Mainly this is just
interesting information.
Why do we count page hits? We need to know what pages or sections of our
site are being used and which ones are not. This helps us improve service
on the unused sections to make them more interesting. It also allows us
to increase performance in the areas that get a lot of use. Who uses each
page makes no difference to us or our computers. Only how much each page
is being used.
